How should I convince my dad to let me get a golden retriever?

My mom said “question your dad” sooooo yeah. I have a maltese poodle right now, and i take excellent care of him and he sleeps with me. my other dog died (really killed, but thats a long tale :[ ) in august and my parents said we could get another dog in the spring.
so what are some excellent things about golden retrievers that I can tell my dad.
are there any terrible things?
