I second Chloe, that is what my Retriever is named. My yellow lab was named Mika (pronounced ‘my-kah’) and my childhood retriever was named Katie.

We had a red-haired golden retriever, and we named her Penny, because she was such a pretty copper color.
If you get a black lab, Ebony would be nice. I’ve also always liked the name Charlie, and you could use that no matter what color or sex it is.
I work in a vet’s office, and we see so many animals named Katie, Chloe, or Sadie. I’d stay away from those three, they aren’t very original anymore.
Well loved male names that aren’t too over-used yet are Bo, Harley, Duke, Rex, and Cody.
